FCRA REGISTRATION (Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010)

FCRA Registration is done by NGOs, trusts, societies, or associations that wish to receive and utilize foreign contributions or donations in India. It is governed by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA)

ANNUAL RETURN

The return is filed online through Form FC-4

Due date: File on or before 31st December of the following year

CLOSURE PROCEDURE

If an organization wants to surrender its FCRA registration, it must follow a specific procedure:

  • Log in to the FCRA online portal (https://fcraonline.nic.in/) using its credentials
  • On the portal, there will be an option to surrender FCRA registration under the section for “Application for Surrender of FCRA Registration”
  • Fill the application form
  • The organization must file the final Annual Return (Form FC-4) detailing all foreign contributions received and utilized up to the closure date.
  • Once the application and documents are submitted, the Ministry of Home Affairs will review them. If everything is in order, the MHA will issue a cancellation order
