IEC Code (Importer Exporter Code)

IEC Code Registration refers to the registration process for obtaining the Importer Exporter Code (IEC), which is a unique identification number required by businesses in India for engaging in international trade. The IEC code is issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India.

CLOSURE PROEDURE

The closure procedure of an IEC (Importer Exporter Code) is required when a business or entity decides to discontinue its import/export operations or permanently stop trading internationally. Here are the steps to close IEC Code:

  1. Login in to DGFCT portal
  1. Select the Services tab
  1. Select ‘IEC Code’ from the drop-down menu
  1. Scroll down and select Surrender IEC
  1. Fill out the IEC closure form (or surrender form) with necessary details
  2. After submission, the DGFT will process the closure request.
  3. Once verified, they will close the IEC and provide confirmation. The IEC code will be marked as inactive
